Meet the Dasher: Making the Most of Student Life in Hong Kong

Meet Pierre and Anaelle, two students staying in Dash Living on Prat during their exchange program in Hong Kong. They shared their reasons for choosing Dash Living, highlighting its trendy co-living atmosphere, convenient location, and impressive amenities. They also let us in on their travel experiences, daily routine, and the exciting events and perks offered by Dash Living. Read the short interview below for a glimpse into their life in Hong Kong!

1. Why did you choose to stay in Dash Living?

P: We are interested in the concept of coliving at Dash Living on Prat and the convenient location of Dash Living between Central and Baptist University.

A: This is a good compromise between a dorm (very cheap) and an apartment (very expensive). It was really clean compared to other apartments and offered cleaning services, a big kitchen, a washing machine, a gym room, and activities like Pilates.

It’s also a great opportunity to meet other people for networking. For students looking for a big apartment in France, something similar to Dash Living would be ideal.

2. Did you consider staying at a Hotel instead of serviced apartments?

A: As for me, I prefer staying in serviced apartments because of the shared spaces and the ability to cook my own meals. I also like the idea of meeting new people.

3. Before living in Hong Kong, which country/ countries were you living in/ visited?

P: I have travelled to various places, including Paris, Lille in the north of France for business studies, Valencia in Spain, Canada, Lipui and Rome in Italy, London, and Austria. For this semester, I am planning to go to Japan and the Philippines.
My most memorable experiences were in Bali, Indonesia, where I had an adventurous time and enjoyed the beautiful beaches. Italy was also memorable, with cool weather and delicious food.

A: My parents lived in Paris until I turned 18. I spent six months in Spain at Sevilla and stayed with a host family in San Diego to learn English.

I’ve travelled to various countries, including the United States, Indonesia, Namibia, Tanzania, Belgium, Italy, and Greece. My favourite trips were to Namibia and Tanzania because I went on a safari and saw lions and zebras. I also enjoyed Indonesia and Thailand because of the good weather.

4. Why would you come to Hong Kong?

P: We are participating in an exchange program focused on finance and business. The semester period is from January 2023 to May 2023. We are eager to discover new things and enjoy being in Asia as Hong Kong is renowned for its finance industry. We chose to study in this bustling city because of its abundant opportunities and resources.

A: There’s a lot of nature to enjoy here. You can find everything you want, whether it’s a beach or hiking.

5. Could you try to describe your life in Hong Kong?

P: During weekdays, I attend university. On weekends, I enjoy engaging in sports and hiking, particularly to Big Buddha on Lantau Island. I also would like to explore museums.

A: Joined Happy Wednesday and consider visiting Ten Thousand Island, Lama Island, Lions Rock, and Sunset Peak.

6. Could you tell us more about your hobbies?

P: I’m a big fan of motorsports, especially F1 and MotoGP. I also enjoy riding motorcycles in France. In my free time, I like to watch movies and Netflix. I prefer action, adventure, and Marvel movies. I think Avatar is okay.

A: I love to travel, and I enjoy visiting museums, cinemas, and theatres. I also have a passion for animals, and I enjoy participating in charity work. In terms of sports, I enjoy watching and playing various sports. I enjoy historical movies and those that depict the world war, but I am not a fan of science fiction. I particularly love comedy movies.

7. What kind of events or perks you enjoyed most in Dash Living?

P: We really enjoyed the Pilates courses, the happy hour party with free pizza, and the movie. Additionally, I went to CUZ barber shop and got 20% discount as a Dash Living tenant!

A: I enjoyed the Yuanxiao Festival event, where we ate Tang Yuan together.
