Meet the Member: The Adventurer in Love with Hong Kong Movies & Hot Pot
Eva Zhang moved to Hong Kong from China in 2019 to work in the telecommunications sector alongside a part-time gig in insurance to keep her busy in her spare time. We visited Eva during the weekend at Dash Coliving to get to know her better and here’s what she had to share with us.
What brought you to Dash Coliving?
E: I wanted to live close to my work and all the shopping malls & restaurants because so everything is convenient for me after work. Besides, coliving is good for people new to Hong Kong to meet new friends.
You’ve been here for a few months, do you have any suggestions for shopping?
E: I like to go to K11 Musea shopping mall as the atmosphere is pleasant. They have a good range of brands for different for everything such as clothes, cosmetics, food, lifestyle products etc.
Also, there’s a bunch of grocery shop a few minutes walk from here:
- Wellcome
- Parknshop
- Market Place in K11
- Citysuper (so good for cheese with a lot of choices)
How do you feel about moving to Hong Kong?
E: I like Hong kong. I used to watch and still continue to watch a lot of Hong Kong cinema. My family and I came here during Chinese New Year for holidays, and that was what triggered me to want to live here as I was exposed to the culture during these trips.
What’s your favourite way to relax after work and on weekends?
E: I sometimes drink wine on the rooftop at Dash Coliving to relax or go out with friends after work. I also like to go hiking around Hong Kong Island, shopping around here, and discovering good food with friends.
During long holidays, I like to travel alone and explore the world. This year I just went to Dubai for my Chinese New Year holidays – it’s a fantastic place, and I’d recommend everyone to visit at least once.
Where’s your favourite spot to eat around?
E: In general, I love hot pot but here are a few of my favorite places I enjoy eating at:
- Happy Lamb Hot Pot – they serve the traditional inner Mongolian lamb barbeque with hotpot
- Kimberley Street（Little Korea) for fried chicken
- cookedDeli by Citysuper – food court with multiple choices of food
Do you hang out with other tenants?
E: I met some friends here from the community event and we hung out in the kitchen while making food. There was one time I met Michael in the kitchen as he was making cake, then we started to talk.
What do you like the most about living here?
E: Hong Kong people are friendly and respectful to each other. It’s often seen among colleagues & neighbors. One of my favourite parts of living in Hong Kong is so convenient and diverse. I could easily get whatever I want, even food from where I am from.
